@saddestrobots i can't even imagine what would exist today if we had godot engine when i was a kid

I didn't realize you could use different transfer protocols for this, I'll have to look into it deeper, thank you. For now I've been occasionally firing up an old Mac Pro and using Image Capture, lol.

Hello #fediblockmeta, many people are discussing #thebadspace #blocklist after they blocked tech.lgbt, but few people went through all 355 pages to look at it the #badspace contents. I did that and want to share my findings.

I don't want attention or followers, but I want this post shared, so I am posting from an alt.

I feel like I've completely lost control of my life when I am reminded that I haven't backed up the camera roll on my phone in over a year because I no longer use a Mac and it is *that* impossible to do on Windows for some reason.

(I'm usually critical of reductively identifying individual responsibility with that of a nation and state, and I might not use "we" that way most of the time, but this message is intended to agitate Americans. Thanks for understanding)

Today is the fiftieth anniversary of the CIA-led coup that killed the democratically-elected Chilean President Salvador Allende. An accomplished medical doctor and democratic socialist, Salvador dared to match the people's fervor in challenging the American capital interests expropriating the value of their home land.

So we killed him -- and it's taken this long for the people of Chile to finally overturn the constitution of the murderous fascist dictatorship that followed.

@skry I've seen studies supporting and rejecting effects on rate of diagnosis, but this is probably the closest I've found to describing effects on people who do have hypothyroidism. The qualification of iodine deficiency is informative, but really doesn't mitigate the situation in the United States where even many thyroid patients are unlikely to supplement or test for iodine. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/303161

And let me tell you, folks, reading a list of symptoms for endocrine problems might bore you to death, but the reality of these conditions affect absolutely every part of your body and your life; their descriptions sound vague because they're extremely difficult to even identify, never mind to treat. Respect your endocrine system -- its balance is delicate beyond words and we still barely even understand it yet.

@TomWellborn @skry I'm not here to be a pain in the ass. I just take every opportunity to raise a point that is consistently missing from a conversation that tangibly affects millions of people including myself; you understand that awkward struggle. I appreciate your effort to intercept misinformation, and seek to collaborate always in that communitywide mandate. mastodon.hellsite.net/@bobbyd0

I've been grateful that New Jersey doesn't fluoridate its water because I have a history of endocrine problems and systemic fluoride stresses the thyroid. Moving to a state that fluoridates will mean I need to either drink exclusively bottled water or buy an expensive filtration system -- unless I want to risk going back into hypothyroidism after years healed from it.

@TomWellborn @skry Oh, you're absolutely right, I'm just adding that it's immediately adjacent to a *real* problem that is constantly derided as a "myth" so I'm hopeful that anyone with these sort of concerns would find the information valuable. Without that caveat, your statement could be inferred as aligning with that very popular example of misinformation that many are familiar with, much as I'm sure that's not your intention.

@TomWellborn @skry The systemic fluoride provided by fluoridated drinking water has little positive effect wherever basic dental care regimen is maintained, and poses considerable long-term health risk to people with endocrine problems, especially hypothyroidism. Water is too vital a substance to render unusable or silently dangerous for a significant section of population by dosing it with medical or nutritional products that address questionable concerns.

It occurs to me this may be from moving them by holding the case by the side instead of the bottom, which is a thing I totally do. Whoops. Not that it should be so flimsy.

iMac G5s of both sizes (shown) develop these cracks just sitting there on the shelf, with little UV exposure and only mild temperature fluctuation. Same with clamshell iBooks. These were the two that survived a shelving collapse years ago with no such injury!

Apologies; something broke the authentication plugin for PeerTube and it's fixed now. It's about time I got to the bottom of what is failing to preserve certain settings (like livestreaming and transcoding config) across reboots and other interruptions, because this may be related. Anyone deeply experienced with PeerTube configuration is invited to reach out -- it will take some for me to get around to this otherwise.

One of the biggest propaganda wins for white supremacists was teaching kids (and everyone else) that racism is a unique and special evil, one that can only be done by evil racists or faceless passionless "systems."

It's more comfortable to think of it as a force of nature or a thing only done by Bad Guys than something almost all of us contribute to and need to be conscious of.

A severe privacy flaw named 'acropalypse' has also been found to affect the Windows Snipping Tool, allowing people to partially recover content that was edited out of an image.
